POSITION OF DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF-WILLIMANTIC FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Fire Chief. This is a full-time exempt position; Salary Grade 11; Salary Range $103,715 to $125,589. The Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for assisting the Fire Chief in directing Captains and Lieutenants in the day-to-day operations of the department and in performing complex functions related to the planning and tracking of expenditures within various departmental accounts. The duties and responsibilities include making decisions concerning the deployment of command staff during incidents or emergencies, supervising personnel, and performing an on-going analysis of the allocation of staff time and departmental resources. The work involves reliability, responsibility, dependability, and the regular exercise of independent judgment and initiative based on general knowledge of the Town’s administrative policies and procedures, and considerable knowledge, skill, and ability in every phase of fire administration and control functions.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in fire science, fire administration, public or business administration; plus ten (10) years of progressively responsible fire services experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity preferred; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Must possess the following Licenses/Certifications:

• State of Connecticut 2Q License
• SCBA Qualified
• Firefighter II
• Haz Mat Operational
• Confined Space and Trench Rescue
• ICS 100, 200, 300, & 400
• First Aid Training and CPR Certification
• State of Connecticut EMT-B Certification (Defibrillation)
• Fire Officer Training

Any licenses/certifications not held at the time of hiring must be obtained by the end of the probationary period.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, required.

Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.

Debe poseer las siguientes Licencias/Certificaciones:

• ICS 100, 200, 300 y 400

• Capacitación en primeros auxilios y certificación en RCP

• Certificación EMT-B del estado de Connecticut (desfibrilación)

• Capacitación de oficiales de bomberos
