ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES – HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Human Services. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $27.00/hr). This is very responsible administrative work involving the day-to-day operation of a municipal social service department.

Work involves providing social services to families, children, adults, and the aging. This position has the responsibility for making difficult technical and policy decisions involving the provision of services and assistance in emergencies. The work requires the employee to have considerable knowledge, skill, and ability in every phase of social welfare and social services programs. The position requires confidentiality, the use of independent judgment and initiative, and the ability to make critical decisions in the Director’s absence.

QUALIFICATIONS – A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Social

Services, Human Services, or a related field; plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in professional social services work; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – TOWN OF WINDHAM PUBLIC WORKS DEPT.

Windham, CT

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $28.68/hr). Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Heavy Equipment Mechanic diagnoses mechanical defects in pickup trucks, automobiles, dump trucks, motor graders, mowers, street sweepers, backhoes, loaders, scrapers, excavators, and other diesel and gas-powered construction equipment; inspects used parts to determine the cause of mechanical failure, and evaluates whether parts are still usable or need to be replaced; overhauls, repairs, and adjusts engines, standard and automatic transmissions, air and hydraulic brake systems, clutches, differentials, axles and suspension, electrical systems, computerized and electronic ignition systems, steering and control systems, and generators; rebuilds hydraulic pumps; repairs electronically controlled devices on power shovels and other heavy equipment; performs welding; uses a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools; overhauls exhaust systems; makes emergency repairs in the field; changes and repairs tires. This position is required to work overtime as necessary, especially during emergency or storm situations, including snow plowing. Performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and servicing of heavy equipment. Must possess a valid CDL-B driver’s\ license.

MAINTAINER 1 – TOWN OF WINDHAM PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Windham, CT

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Maintainer 1. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $23.46/hr). Under the direction of the Public Works

Superintendent, a Maintainer 1 is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair of town roads, parks, cemeteries, and other town facilities. Must be knowledgeable in the proper use and operation of various equipment, including lawn mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, wood chippers, chain saws, and snow blowers.

Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut Driver’s License.

State of Connecticut Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferred.

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Police Administration Services Specialist. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $22.00/hr). This is responsible administrative work, including organizing files, creating correspondence, preparing reports and documents, managing calendars, scheduling appointments, sorting mail, preparing invoices, processing forms, such as requisitions and applications, and other general staff support. The position also has the responsibility for making secretarial, administrative, and work priority decisions. The work requires that the employee have considerable knowledge, skill, and ability in secretarial, general administrative, and office procedures, and good knowledge of the department’s policies, organization, operations, and services. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment, confidentiality, initiative, and accuracy.
